Hello again everybody!
I'm excited to share two of the most important features for the website.
Fuzzydates and User Time Zones
Now instead of everything loading in times within UTC time frames, we now update users with different times for how long ago a format was last updated at:
So users will get a good understanding how long ago something was last update on the site. It also gives a good understanding for the site traffic and how often users are updating the site with new information.
For user time zones, I've updated: Blogs, Products, Formats, to let users know the date and time something has been updated at based on their current region:
Revisions
In addition to the fuzzydates and user time zones, I have also implemented revisions for different formats submitted to the site.
This will allow moderators to switch to an older version of a format article without the need to change anything manually and make sure that nothing is lost in case of an emergency.
Future Updates
As planned I am aiming to include the relevancy search when searching for a specific product that is located in the database.
Relevancy Search
This will make sure that if you search for Devil Man (as an example) you will get results related to the manga and anime adaptations before other products that have in the description something like "Inspired by Devil Man".
Recommendation Lists
I'm personally tired of algorithms from different websites and top ten lists being my source of recommendations for different products. As well, I want to try and stay away from social media as best as I can. So I think adding recommendation pages would be a good idea for the site to help find new stuff for me to enjoy.
Cutting Down on Submissions
Unfortunately, I'm going to have to cut down on some submissions for the time being. I got way ahead of myself and project limitations should be something that I want to consider. I wanted a website to keep track of products that affected ownership, as well as to keep track of what different formats for different products might look like. I'm going to start with the former then work up to the latter. This means Video Games, Appliances and Tools, Automotive, and Software will be open for the public for new submissions.
That said, I'm going to upload certain products I feel would be helpful to know based on what has been changed based on format and what might be changed depending on the time we live in.
